Raising the Bar in Westport: Meet Top Agent Dan McCamblau

Our newest Westport Office recruit, Dan McCamblau, brings a proven track record of excellence and local leadership to Brown Harris Stevens. Recently named Best Realtor in Westport by the Westport CT Community and formerly one of the top-performing agents at Coldwell Banker, Dan joins BHS as a top new recruit—learn more about his journey, market expertise, and what drew him to BHS in this week’s Agent Spotlight.

You recently joined BHS’s Westport Office after being at Coldwell Banker. Why did you collectively decide BHS was best for your business?

Joining Brown Harris Stevens was a highly intentional decision rooted in alignment of values, vision, and standards of excellence. BHS offers a powerful blend of global reach and boutique-level service, with a reputation for integrity, discretion, and best-in-class marketing that mirrors how I serve my clients. As my business continues to grow, BHS provides the platform, leadership, and culture that allow me to deliver even more strategic, elevated outcomes. Most importantly, it felt like home: a firm that prioritizes people, relationships, and long-term impact over transactions alone.

Coming from an Anywhere brand, what is your thoughts on the Compass Acquisition and did that impact your move to BHS?

Industry consolidation is an ongoing reality in real estate and Compass’ recent acquisition of Anywhere reflects how dynamic and competitive the landscape has become. Like many in the industry, I was mindful of the uncertainty and distraction that can accompany large-scale integrations, and for me it was important to be at a firm where my focus, and my clients’ experience, would not be diluted by questions about brand direction or internal change. That said, my decision to join Brown Harris Stevens was not reactionary, it was proactive. The move was driven by long-term alignment around culture, independence, and a client-first philosophy, rather than any single transaction or headline. BHS offers the stability, discretion, and strategic focus I value, allowing me to stay fully centered on delivering exceptional outcomes for my clients amid a rapidly evolving industry.

As an accomplished C-Suite in Tech and Strategy for such companies such as Peloton and Amazon, what did you take from that experience to make yourself the Top Westport Agent?

My experience in senior finance and strategy leadership roles in the technology sector taught me how to think several moves ahead, operate with discipline, and make high-stakes decisions grounded in data and judgment, skills that translate directly to real estate at the highest level. At Peloton and Amazon, I worked closely with the C-suite and Boards on complex negotiations, long-term value creation, and execution under pressure, and I bring that same rigor to every client relationship. Combined with deep local market knowledge and a service-first mindset, that strategic foundation has helped me deliver consistently strong, record-setting results for my clients in Westport, New Canaan, Wilton and beyond.

Favorite Dining Spot in Westport? What are you ordering?

Asking me to pick one restaurant is like asking me to pick a favorite child. There are so many great ones in the community! One of my go-to spots in Westport is Oko. I’d give one of my kidneys for the Cedar Smoked Black Cod nigiri and an Up in Smoke (cocktail). Bar Taco is another great option for a fun, relaxed meal, totally kid-friendly and always vibrant. They make a killer Coco Melon Margarita (love the pun!), which is an “off menu” item.

What is your forecast for the 2026 Connecticut Market?

Connecticut’s housing market in 2026 looks poised for continued strength and competition, with nuanced dynamics shaping different local markets. Statewide, limited inventory and strong demand are expected to support steady price appreciation, keeping sellers in a strong negotiating position. In Fairfield County and the surrounding commuter markets, momentum remains strong as buyers prioritize suburban lifestyle, quality schools, and proximity to New York City. Sellers very much remain in control, as we see significant supply constraints.

As far as rate cuts (and affordability) are concerned, we may see one to two quarter‑point rate cuts during the year if inflation continues easing and economic growth slows modestly. This would gradually lower the federal funds rate toward a neutral range by year‑end. That said, the Fed could hold rates steady all year, especially if inflation remains above target and labor markets stay strong — potentially meaning no cuts in 2026.

Overall, 2026 should see healthy price growth, active buyer competition, and incremental inventory improvements as mortgage rates stabilize in the mid‑6 to 7% range, creating opportunities for sellers to capture value and buyers to engage strategically.

My husband and I share a deep passion for the arts and are dedicated collectors. I’m heavily involved with the Nasher Museum, he is involved with the American Folk Art Museum, and we both enjoy visiting galleries and auction houses, locally and around the world.

From our first big snow of the winter… the kids had so much fun playing outside in the snow! It makes me so happy to see how happy they were in the snow. Nothing beats a quintessential New England snow day!

As a very active Duke Alum who chairs both the Jewish and LGBTQ+ Alumni Association, tell us about the incredible contributions of your alumni network to Connecticut?

The Duke alumni network in Connecticut is incredibly vibrant and community-driven. I’m proud to help foster this community as a Regional Chair for Admissions and Co-Chair of the Duke Jewish and LGBTQ+ Alumni Boards, while also serving on the Duke Alumni Board of Directors. Our alumni are making a tangible impact locally while strengthening lifelong connections. Key activities include mentoring new grads and connecting high school seniors with Duke through interviews and send-off parties and general community building (e.g., game watches, community Shabbats, happy hours, Pride celebrations, volunteer work).

For me, this past year has been particularly special. Some highlights: I was honored to deliver keynotes at two Duke commencement addresses (JBacc + Lavender Grad), celebrate milestone campaigns (the launch of Made For This) and support a local art event with the Nasher Museum (special guest: Rashid Johnson). The CT Duke community continues to amaze me with their excitement and generosity, and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead!
