In a win for one local East End community, Brown Harris Stevens has successfully sold and closed the sale of Redwood Anchorage Marina in Sag Harbor.

The waterfront marina, located at 40 S. Redwood Road, was purchased by the Town of Southampton Community Preservation Fund (CPF) in an off market transaction that closed for $7.5 million. The deal aims to ensure the long-term preservation of a beloved local asset for generations of East End boaters.

Jane Holden of Brown Harris Stevens represented the Southampton Community Preservation Fund, while BHS agents Anthony Cerio and Mitchel Natter represented the seller. The marina had been owned and operated by Gerald Schwenk, whose decision to sell was driven by a deep commitment to the local community.

“The Marina was owned and operated by Gerald for 30+ years,” said Holden. “He wanted to allow local families to afford the rental expenses for a boat slip and therefore sold it to the Southampton Community Preservation Fund rather than a private group. From start to finish, the sale of this property took 18 months.”

Rather than pursuing a sale to private developers, Schwenk chose a path that aligned with his values—prioritizing affordability, access, and preservation. The acquisition by the CPF helps safeguard the marina’s role as a working waterfront and reinforces Southampton’s broader efforts to protect community resources.
