Parker is a rapidly growing Douglas County town southeast of Denver known for its celebrated Western heritage and lively historic downtown. Parker grew from the Twenty Mile House, a stagecoach stop established in the 1860s along the Smoky Hill Trail, and the town officially incorporated in 1981. Today, Parker’s historic downtown centers around the Mainstreet district, filled with local shops, eateries, breweries, and seasonal community events. Cultural life is anchored by the Parker Arts, Culture and Events Center, which hosts performances, classes, and exhibitions. Outdoor recreation includes the Cherry Creek Trail, paddling and fishing at Rueter-Hess Reservoir, and numerous parks. Public schools in Parker are part of the Douglas County School District, and E-470 provides a direct route to Denver International Airport. Housing ranges from established neighborhoods to master-planned communities and acreage properties.
