Aurora is Colorado’s third-largest city and extends across portions of Arapahoe, Adams, and Douglas counties east of Denver. Founded as Fletcher in 1891 and renamed Aurora in 1907, the city developed from an agricultural community into a major residential, commercial, medical, and military center. The Anschutz Medical Campus and Buckley Space Force Base are significant institutions within the city. Stanley Marketplace occupies a former aviation facility and includes restaurants, shops, businesses, and event spaces. Aurora also includes more than 100 parks, open-space areas, and recreational facilities. Aurora Reservoir and Cherry Creek State Park provide opportunities for boating, fishing, trails, and other outdoor activities. Housing includes single-family homes, townhomes, condominiums, and apartments, with properties ranging from established neighborhoods to newer developments.
