Grab a notebook, pour yourself a coffee (or a glass of wine if it’s been one of those real estate days) and let’s do a quick business check-in.
Remember January? You were fired up. You set ambitious production goals, promised yourself you’d prospect every day, post consistently on social media, ask for more referrals, and make this your biggest year yet.
You’ve had some wins. You’ve created new leads and meaningful relationships. You’ve sharpened your skills and learned new ones. You’ve guided buyers and sellers to the closing table.
You’ve also encountered challenges.
Deals fell apart. Buyers hit pause. Sellers hesitated. The market shifted. Life got busy.
Here’s the good news: you still have five months left. One great listing can lead to multiple transactions. One client event can spark a wave of referrals. It’s far from game over.
Step 1: Review Your Business by Category
Instead of looking at your business as one giant picture, break it into key areas:
- Sales & Closings
- Listings
- Lead Generation
- Marketing & Personal Brand
- Client Relationships
- Finances
- Personal Growth
Then ask yourself four simple questions for each:
- What was my goal in January?
- What have I actually accomplished?
- What didn’t happen and why?
- What needs to change between now and year-end?
That third question is usually the most revealing. It helps identify where consistency slipped or priorities changed.
Step 2: Look for Patterns
Be honest with yourself.
Did you stop making calls because you were busy or because you were uncomfortable?
Did you abandon video marketing because it wasn’t working, or because you expected results too quickly?
Step 3: Create a Plan for the Second Half
Now fast forward to December 31. Imagine you’ve hit your goals. What had to happen?
Don’t just write goals, create systems. For example:
Goal: Take 10 more listings this year.
Weekly Action Plan:
- Call 25 people in your database.
- Schedule two listing appointments.
- Host one open house.
- Post two market updates.
- Ask every happy client for an introduction.
Goals inspire you. Systems get you there.
Step 4: Your Mid-Year Homework
Block out one uninterrupted hour this week and answer these questions:
- What goal still excites me?
- What activities generated the most business this year?
- Where have I been busy instead of productive?
- What one habit would have the biggest impact if I committed to it every day?
- What do I need to stop doing?
- What would make me look back in December and say, “This was my breakthrough year?”
Then close the notebook, open your CRM, and make the next call.
Finish Strong
The agents who consistently win are those who keep showing up, having conversations, following up, and doing the little things that compound over time.
Five months is plenty of time to rebuild your pipeline, take more listings, strengthen relationships, and finish the year stronger than you imagined.
