With deep sadness, we share the passing of a longtime member of our Brooklyn Heights community, Eli Ickovic, whose steady presence and dedication left a lasting mark on colleagues and clients alike. For nearly four decades, he approached his work with thoughtfulness, integrity, and a warmth that defined both his career and his character.
“Eli was a valued member of the Brooklyn Heights real estate community for over 30 years many of them at Halstead and later Brown Harris Stevens. He was known to most of us for his quiet diligence every day in the office and to some of us for his wild abandon on the dance floor.“
– Christopher Thomas, Executive Vice President, Managing Director of Sales, Brooklyn Heights
Eli Ickovic, of the Brooklyn Heights office, passed away on January 30th. In a career spanning 37 years working mostly in Brooklyn Heights, he represented a broad range of clients, both commercial and residential landlords as well as condo and co-op owners.
Eli graduated from architectural training in Florence and was fluent in Italian, Hebrew, and English. He came to Brooklyn in 1987 and over the years worked for a number of real estate firms in Brooklyn Heights, eventually joining the Halstead Group at 150 Montague St. when the William S. Ross organization became Halstead Brooklyn. After the merger with Halstead, he joined Brown Harris Stevens in the Brooklyn Heights office. He was valued by all who worked with him for his diligence, quiet competence, and professionalism.
Eli enjoyed listening to Italian music and singing along and speaking about his travels. Those who knew him well knew, despite his quiet demeanor, that he loved to dance with abandon. He will be missed.
