STAMFORD, CT – October 14, 2026 – Valeur Lofts, a new collection of 41 rental loft residences within the landmark 1925 Valeur Building at 400 Main Street, has revealed the first photos of the conversion’s model units as pre-leasing begins in downtown Stamford. The eight-story office building has been carefully restored and reimagined as a mixed-use building by JBM Realty and Granoff Real Estate, thoughtfully combining preserved Art Deco-era character with contemporary residences, retail and modern amenities. Target occupancy is scheduled for December 1, 2026. Claudia Smeriglio at Brown Harris Stevens is the official leasing agent.
“Valeur Lofts offers an opportunity to live in a prime location in a building with genuine history and architectural character, while enjoying the finishes, conveniences and design sensibility today’s renters expect,” said Smeriglio. “An important Stamford building has been preserved and given an entirely new purpose. The result is a residential experience that is difficult to replicate in conventional new construction.”
Developed by JBM Realty (Jeffrey B. Mendell, Jason Mendell and Eric Edelman) and Granoff Real Estate, and thoughtfully designed by Granoff Architects, Valeur Lofts represents the adaptive reuse of one of downtown Stamford’s most recognizable historic landmarks. With a long history of restoring and converting historic spaces, the development and design team undertook a complete renovation of the property, restoring the exterior windows and repointed brick while transforming the interior into 41 premium rental residences and tenant lobby. The 30,000-square-foot mixed-use project includes a second-floor fitness center and approximately 3,500 square feet of ground-floor retail. Prime Properties CT serves as property manager for Valeur Lofts.
Valeur Lofts offers studios and one-bedroom homes, beginning at $2,250 and $2,725, respectively. Each residence features contemporary kitchens with custom wood cabinetry, Blomberg stainless-steel appliances and quartz countertops with double-waterfall edges. Bathrooms are appointed with terrazzo tile and Duravit fixtures, while every residence includes an in-unit washer/dryer. An on-site fitness center on the second floor provides a convenient wellness amenity for residents. At street level, Valeur Lofts further contributes to the energy and daily convenience of Main Street through its retail component. Wells Fargo and Dunkin’ are among the ground-floor tenants, and beloved local purveyor Dr. Mike’s Ice Cream has signed a lease and is expected to open by the end of the year.
“Following over a decade of reimagining historic buildings into much needed residential and business spaces, we are excited that Valeur Lofts is ready for prime time,” said developer Jeff Mendell, Founder of JBM Realty. “These gorgeous landmarks deserve a new life and a new purpose. We look forward to introducing our other projects taking place across the region.”
Granoff Architects served as architect and interior designer for Valeur Lofts, guiding the building’s restoration and the design of its residences, lobby and common areas. Historic elements retained or restored throughout the property include terrazzo flooring, terra-cotta tiles along the lobby walls, original mail chutes and the building’s signature oversized windows. The original large-format windows bring exceptional natural light into the residences, with many homes also offering expansive views across downtown Stamford.
“We value our continued partnership with JBM Realty to bring new high-quality and distinctive homes to town centers, while retaining the soul and authenticity of these historic buildings,” said architect Rich Granoff (AIA), Founder and CEO of Granoff Architects and Granoff Real Estate. “Downtown Stamford continues to be a compelling market, particularly for properties that offer a strong combination of location, quality and design.”
Located at the corner of Main Street and Atlantic Avenue, Valeur Lofts places residents within easy access of downtown Stamford’s restaurants, retail, entertainment and cultural destinations, including The Palace Theatre and Stamford’s Metro-North station.
Valeur Lofts represents the ongoing success of the developer-architect team, which together have also reimagined six historic buildings in Providence, Rhode Island; Greenwich, CT; and Hackensack, NJ; among other communities across the Northeast.
