Brooklyn Navy Yard

by

The Brooklyn Navy Yard is a 300-acre industrial campus along the East River between DUMBO, Williamsburg, and Fort Greene. Originally established in 1801 as a U.S. Navy shipbuilding facility, it now operates as a city-owned industrial park focused on manufacturing, technology, film and media production, and design. Historic structures have been adaptively reused as modern workspaces while preserving the site’s industrial character. While primarily commercial, the Yard sits near established residential neighborhoods and waterfront parks. The NYC Ferry serves the on-site landing, and nearby subway lines in adjacent areas provide additional transit access. With active development, workforce training initiatives, and public programming, the Brooklyn Navy Yard remains an important employment and innovation center within Brooklyn’s waterfront corridor.
