Clark is an unincorporated community in Routt County located north of Steamboat Springs in the Elk River Valley near the Wyoming border. The community was named for pioneer homesteader Hannah Emily Clark, who established a local post office on her property in 1889. Clark’s history is closely connected to ranching and agriculture, with the surrounding valley continuing to include ranches and open land. The Clark Store serves as a local business and post office, with a deli and other services. The area is surrounded by Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests and the Mount Zirkel Wilderness.
