Manhattan’s longest running Off-Broadway theater is now serving up audiences in a whole new way.
Tucked inside the West Village’s historic Cherry Lane Theatre, the acclaimed indie-film brand A24 has layered an elegant twist on dinner and design. The newly opened restaurant, Wild Cherry, marries art-house ambience with a thoughtful supper-club menu — and it’s quickly becoming one of New York’s most talked-about spots, according to Wallpaper Magazine.
You may remember when Brown Harris Stevens agent Mary Vetri successfully sold the iconic theatrical venue back in 2023. The theatre first opened in 1924, but the building dates back to 1817 when it was constructed as a farm silo, and also served as a brewery, tobacco warehouse, and box factory.
From the moment you step inside, Wild Cherry sets a tone that feels more film set than typical dining room. The space is cozy ( just 45 seats!) and designed by Zeb Stewart, known for Brooklyn favorites like Hotel Delmano and Café Colette.
The menu features delectables like raw seafood: oysters, tuna crudo, Bang’s Island mussels, and whole dressed crab. Heartier fare includes a lobster club sandwich, roasted monkfish kebab, a cheeseburger, and steak for two. For libations, Wild Cherry offers classic cocktails and natural wines, but the showstopper is the Scorpion Bowl, served in vintage Murano glass and designed to be shared.
Located at 38 Commerce Street in the West Village, Wild Cherry’s setting inside the Cherry Lane Theatre makes it a perfect pre- or post-show destination. The ambience is quieter and more refined than many of the neighborhood’s bustling haunts, creating an intimate space ideal for a special night out.
