Built in 1924 as a refrigerated warehouse, this building was part of a cluster owned by Merchants Refrigerating Company that lined the northern side of North Moore Street around the turn of the century. Merchants Refrigerating retained ownership until 1960, after which the property changed hands several times before being acquired by Atalanta Corp., whose logo still adorns the north facade. Atalanta operated its refrigeration business here until the mid-1980s before relocating to New Jersey. For the following decade, Atalanta leased refrigerated storage space in the building to other companies.
