Built in 1988 by developer William Zeckendorf, Jr., Worldwide Plaza played a key role in revitalizing Midtown’s 8th Avenue with its striking Post-Modern design. Today, it stands as one of Clinton/Midtown West’s premier luxury developments. Spanning a full city block from 49th to 50th Streets between 8th and 9th Avenues, the complex is anchored by a 50-story office tower topped with the iconic copper pyramid known as “David’s Diamond,” designed by architect David Childs. The residential portion includes a 39-story tower at 350 West 50th Street, a 7-story building at 393 West 49th Street, and 12 townhouses. A landscaped public square with a fountain and outdoor café connects the commercial and residential spaces.
