The Financial District, or FiDi, has rapidly transformed into one of Manhattan’s most vibrant residential areas, with luxury condos, parks, and retail reshaping the neighborhood once dominated by finance. Five Nine Johns Lofts at 59 John Street is a prime example. Originally a 1900s office building, it was converted to condos starting in 2004 and completed in 2007. The nine-story brick façade was restored, windows enlarged, and four floors added, creating 73 luxury units—from studios to three bedrooms—above a 6,000 sq ft retail base.
